Can I Decline or Cancel a Task?

5 min readFor Helpers

You Choose Which Tasks to Accept

One of the benefits of being a Helper on Favor On-Demand is flexibility. You're never required to accept a task, and you should only accept opportunities that match your skills, experience, availability, and comfort level.

However, once you accept a task, you're making a commitment to the Requester to complete the agreed-upon work.

Declining a Task

You may decline any available task before accepting it. There is no penalty for choosing not to accept a task. We encourage you to carefully review each task before deciding whether it's the right fit for you. Consider:

  • The scope of work
  • The posted budget
  • Your availability
  • The location
  • Whether you have the necessary tools or equipment
  • Whether you can safely complete the task

Accepting the right tasks leads to better experiences for both you and the Requester.

Canceling After You've Accepted

If you've already accepted a task and can no longer complete it, cancel as soon as possible. Prompt communication allows the Requester to make other arrangements and helps maintain a positive experience for everyone.

Repeated cancellations may affect your account standing or future opportunities on the platform.

Before Work Begins

If an unexpected situation prevents you from completing the task, notify the Requester immediately through the Favor On-Demand app. Providing as much notice as possible shows professionalism and respect for the Requester's time.

After Work Has Begun

Once you've confirmed and started the task, you're expected to complete the agreed-upon scope of work. If an emergency or unexpected issue prevents you from finishing, communicate with the Requester immediately through the app and contact Favor On-Demand Support if additional assistance is needed.

What If the Task Is Different Than Described?

Sometimes the actual task may not match the original posting. If you arrive and discover that the scope of work is significantly different, additional work has been added, required materials weren't disclosed, or the task cannot be completed safely—discuss the situation with the Requester before beginning work.

If the task no longer matches what you originally accepted, you may choose not to proceed and cancel the task through the app.

Additional Work

The posted budget applies only to the original scope of work. If a Requester asks you to complete additional work beyond what was originally posted, complete the original task as agreed. Any additional work should be posted as a separate task with its own description and budget.

Helpers should never request additional payment for the original task after accepting it.
